Our team at Dental House of Pittsburgh stays up to date with the latest technology and techniques that dentistry has to offer. And what’s more, we bring the best back to our practices so that our patients can benefit. Whether it’s improving diagnostic accuracy or painless treatment, our technology makes the patient experience more efficient, more comfortable, and more effective. Here are some of the advanced services and technology we have available at our dental offices.
Within your mouth are small little nooks and crannies that can be difficult to see using only a handheld mirror. To take a closer look at some areas of your mouth, we use an intraoral camera called SmartWatch. This small device also allows us to show you exactly what we see and educate you on any issues you have in your smile. As a result, you have more information to make a confident decision for your oral care.
X-rays play a vital role in detecting problems that lurk below the visible surface. Just as most photos have gone digital these days, your X-rays are taken with digital technology. That means these images are available for Dr. Verner to examine almost instantaneously, helping us use your appointment time more efficiently. This technology also reduces the amount of radiation exposure by up to 90 percent, so you can sit back and relax.
Although digital X-rays are helpful for diagnosing cavities and other similar problems, our PlanMeca CT/cone beam scanner provides a much more thorough view of your oral structures. The location of blood vessels, nerve points, and other information are important to know before complex procedures can be performed. For example, placing a dental implant becomes much easier to perform and much more likely to succeed when we plan with the 3D image created by the cone beam scanner.
To treat issues involving the soft tissues within your mouth, traditionally a scalpel and sutures had to be used for getting rid of infected tissue. Luckily for our patients, we have a Gemini soft tissue laser. This precise device gently cauterizes as it cuts, which means that there is little to no bleeding as well as very little discomfort for the patient. Plus, this technology facilitates healing, helping the patient recover faster.
